Shoes that lace themselves. Let that sink in.
“Back To The Future” is now right in the present with the actualisation of this Nike masterpiece of an innovation; the Nike MAG. Marty McFly fans and the sneakerhead community alike have been waiting for the introduction of these ground-breaking, ankle-shaking sneakers since their first appearance in the 1989 epic, “Back To The Future 2”. But fantasy has now become fact. Science fiction is now non-fiction.
“Power laces” are a reality that Nike CEO Mark Parker hopes to bring to other kicks in the future. I for one am excited about this development and to see them in a whole range of footwear would be a HUGE game changing leap for Nike. No doubt that if power laces aid shoe performance well, Nike will have even greater superiority over market rivals adidas.
Take a look at the videos below and let me know what you think, can sneakers get any better than this!? Beware though, they may cost a bit of dollar when they finally release in the spring of 2016. The early version of the Nike MAG released in 2011, with average sales nipping around the $8,100 mark. All proceeds of both the former and future releases go to a grand cause though – The Michael J. Fox Foundation, for Parkinson’s research.
